Get Enough Sleep or Get Heart Problems!

You need shuteye. Dr. Fuhrman calls adequate sleep a necessary component of good health. And new research in the American Journal of Epidemiology agrees. Experts have determined sleep-duration is linked to heart health and sleeping 7 hours a night appears to be the magic number. Study participants getting 5 or less hours of sleep or 9 or more hours of sleep were more likely to die from cardiovascular disease; Reuters reports.

Lucky for me I get 7 a night. But, if I do get less, it’s because I’m up late blogging!

What about those of us who just don't require as much sleep since adopting the ETL diet? When I cut out sugar alone, I went from needing 8 or 9 hours of sleep to just needing 6 or 7. Now that I'm eating even healthier since reading Dr. Fuhrman's books, I wake up with energy after only 5 hours of sleep. I rarely need a nap later on in the day.

P.S. (I've been awake for over 2 hours this morning while the rest of my family still sleeps -- I can get so much done in the mornings this way! :))
