The Sugar Conspiracy

If you're someone who tries to avoid eating a lot of refined sugar, you know how it lurks here, there, and everywhere. Sometimes it seems like everyone just wants you to eat cakes, cookies, and pudding all the time.

Today BoingBoing has news of a shop in Japan that's taking the game to a new level, disguising sugary desserts as fast food:

A shop in Tokyo hopes to overcome the unmasculine stigma attached to consuming sweets in public by cleverly disguising its wares as fast-food burgers and fries. The hope is that men will be willing to be seen eating elaborate cakes if they resemble savory snacks instead.

The Mamido burger, for instance, which sells for 390 ($3.25 at 120 to the dollar), is a highlight of the menu. The "bun" is actually a sponge cake, the "patty" inside is chocolate cream, and the "pickles" are kiwis. The deep-fried fish burger, meanwhile, priced at 440 ($3.70), features a banana shaped like a fish fillet in sponge cake. It is topped with "tartar sauce," which is actually fresh cream. And the gratin burger, also at 440, is a sandwich with a cream cheese and fruit filling.

It's popular too... look at them lining up in the photo at the bottom of this page.

The conspirators have taken over the world. But awareness is the first step to winning the war over obesity.

I stop eating sugar 4 months ago totally but its so extremely hard to eat from the shop avoiding sugar, sugar is added to everything because it has addictive properties and will force a more craved consumption. I'm fighting with bread lately... From my perspective a diet with a low glycemic index; vegetables, beans, fruit, fish, olive oil and a little bit of meat is best for human performance and clarity and the diet that society imposes numbs you, converts you into an addict of products and finally deteriorates your health to a point were you don't really care about what established powers do with your freedom, we must stop looking at capital and power and we must start working together for the wellbeing of everyone.

Agreed, great posting and from my recent personal experience, having just completed a 10 day fast and detox I can confirm that sugar indeed numbs you and causes you to act involuntarily due to the ensuing cravings. After my detox I sampled a small peice of sponge cake yestarday, which normally has little sugar in it, but upon intake I immediately tasted and felt the effects, soon after the buzz had passed my mood flattened and I become comatozed to the point where I was knocked out and fell asleep for 4 hours. Now this happened to me becuase I have kicked the sugar addiction and because according to my naturapath I am very clean of toxins. Awareness is certainly the key here but the problem is that we dont notice the effects any more because sugar is in everything and our body's are already addicted. To break the addiction visit my journal at www.inboxication.org, it worked for me and has made me more aware.

Cheers,
Congo

Its good to see other people finding out the truth about the sugar conspiracy. If you notice, when companies get backed into a corner over a certain food or ingredient causing health problems, they try to blame the wrong thing just to distract us and keep us confused. First it's FAT, then it's CARBS, then something else. But it's plaina and simple. SUGAR IS A DRUG THAT KILLS US ALL. It has all the properties of a drug that destroys our body and makes us addicts. And even our own families and friends around us will continue to corrupt our children. I have created a bubble environment for my family only allowing the real truth inside.
