Howard Stern On Trans-Fat

Many people don't realize Howard Stern is a health nut, and just this morning, as he was coming on the air, he started railing about trans-fat. You know the stuff that runs rampant in our food, makes us sick, and kills many of us!

Stern said if Iran was selling trans-fat to the U.S., and you looked at the statistics of what it did to Americans, we'd declare war. But for some reason we allow domestic companies to continually infect our food with it.

According to Stern we don't even have strict federal limits on the amount of trans-fat allowed in food. Denmark has tighter restrictions then we do. Crazy, right?

I was curious if anyone else heard Stern's rant? And if you care to weigh in on it?

I think one of the dangers of getting all worked up about trans fat is that people start thinking that "trans fat free" means "healthy". A trans fat free oreo is still a piece of junk food, and if you eat lots of trans fat free oreo's, you'll still be sick.

That said, I do not understand why they aren't banned already, but I guess it is comparable to smoking, alcohol, etc.

Stern occasionally rants against dairy as well. Glad to hear him come out strongly against trans-fats but that still isn't enough to make me want to listen to the other 99% of his show! :-)

I am very glad that Stern is on Sirius now. I don't subscribe, so now it is impossible for me to listen to his crap.

Transfat is a marketing invention created to exploit people who can't stop eating (because there is little/no nutrition in their food). America is world-reknowned for our obesity problem which is built on high rates of empty calorie (white flour, fat, sugar etc.) ingestion.

good for howard-don't eat this stuff-avoid it-eat something without trans fats-no problem.

Why does everything have to be BANNED. Why can't people just enlighten themselves and make their own food choices. There are people that seek out foods that are bad for them and intentionally take poor care of themselves. How can you blame the food? The people have to put it in their mouths. I am soooo tired of all these regulations.

It has to be BANNED because otherwise most restaurants will continue to have trans-fats in much of what they serve, and they won't be forced to eliminate it. That leaves very few options for people that would like the CHOICE of eating healthy when out.

They don't NEED to use it! Food does not taste better with trans-fats!

Eating out was never considered necessarily 'healthy'. If you want healthy when eating out, eat a salad. If you are someone who eats out all the time and would complain about unhealthy restaurant food, then that's your own fault for choosing to go to a restaurant. It should not be banned, you're out of your mind. The fact is, anyone who has such a lack of self-respect that they get really fat and/or unhealthy from food, drugs, etc. and then actually blames it on society, is really pathetic and can't think for themselves.

The rate of Alzheimer's disease in the U.S is more than twice the amount compared to that of China or India. The big corporations in the U.S. are poisoning Americans with toxic man-made chemical called hydrogenated oil, which is found in the processed foods they manufacture. For example, McDonald's and Chik-Fil-A have been poisoning their customers for decades with foods cooked in hydrogenated oils, which contain trans fats. Chik-Fil-A is not a Christian-based establishment and they care about nothing more than making money. Since when does a Christian-based establishment poison their customers with toxic chemicals that have been proven to cause health problems?
