How Much Water Does It Take...

Hopefully this will help you make more informed food choices. Virtual Water shows us just how much water it takes to make many typical American foods. I found these two very startling. Take a look:

That is a sin. Really. I think it was in one of John Robbins' books that I first read these statistics. It is shocking and, again, shameful. This should bother every single person, especially those in the richest nations.

The U.S. is facing a water crisis, drought in the southeast, depletion of the Ogalalla aquifer, every drop of the Colorado River spoken for, and for much of the country, a warming and drying on the horizon. But I think I see an easy way to save water, decrease GHG emissions and live longer all at the same time, from just making one choice.
