I will be continuing my ETL lifestyle during this holiday and all those to come. I could never go back to feeling fat, sluggish, sick, and gross. I could never trade a vibrant, joyful, blissful life for...sweeties. I could never face my face full of acne again. I could never follow the family yellow brick road of constipation, hemorrhoids, depression, drugs, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, cancer, joint replacements, walkers, dementia, and so on. I could never choose disease over ease. I could never trade the delightful, clean, subtle flavors of fresh, natural, plant-foods over heavy, greasy, over-salted, bland, psuedo-foods. I could never eat SAD CRAP, the standard American diet of calorie-rich and processed. I choose to eat plant-foods, because I like the way it tastes, the way I look, and the way I feel.

Why will I be committing to the Holiday Challenge Promise?

Because I absolutely LOVE having no more cardiology or endocrinology appointments. I love not needing to spend one penny on cholesterol lowering meds, diabetes meds, and blood pressure lowering meds! I love never needing to prick my finger 4-5 times a day to calculate what I should or should not eat. I love to travel without the concerns of medical needs. I love not needing to be concerned about having a heart attack or stroke someday and wondering who will take care of me.

I love having the energy & physical stamina to go on a long bike ride in the country on a crisp fall day & smell the freshly harvested fields and feel the warm, sunny breezes on my face.

I thoroughly loved attending my daughter's wedding this past spring wearing a beautiful, coral color dress instead of hiding behind an unfashionable tent dress and baggie jacket.

I love not being ashamed and embarrassed of rolls of fat that royally handicapped my life. Obesity not only change my appearance and health, it changed the type of person that I was as I became more and more inactive and depressed.

AND most of all, I love being free from the all-consuming mental agony that food addiction produced. Every waking moment I was mentally fighting the overwhelming urge & cravings to binge eat. Being completely free from toxic food addiction is the best gift that I can continue to possibly give myself this holiday season!

I'm trying the Holiday Challenge because I have had to change my eating style a lot and am now on gluten free and dairy free, which doesn't leave much but vegetables and fruit. I'm still learning, but getting there. At least I can trust my digestive system not to give me sudden surprises, now.

My husband and I are doing the holiday challenge because after moving back to the Midwest in July after living four years Eating To Live in the Pacific Northwest, we've slid back into some unhealthy habits. To the challenge! Will be contributing healthy greens and veggie dishes to family holiday potlucks., and eating only challenge eligible foods. Bring it on!

Because this year is the year for ME to get healthy !! I was prediabetic, Have high cholesterol, and many aches and pains. AND, I recently lost two brothers due to their health issues. . .NOT me. . .I want to see my grand kids get married. .

This is all about me !!! And a Healthy (Happy) New Year !!

I will join the Holiday challenge because I did it last year and it was the beginning of a new life. I am a size 3 now (I hadn't been that since my early 20's). I feel lighter, and more buoyant. I feel healthier than I did in my 20's too! Even though I was thin, back then, I thought I could sustain my life with Soda, Chips, and Coffee between college courses.

Joining the holiday challenge will make me less tempted to have "just one" junk treat at the work holiday party potluck.

I will join the challenge as a reminder of where I started on this journey and to celebrate the journey's continuation.

Oh, dear! We've only just begun (October 17th) and have gotten off to a grand start, having reduced by 13 pounds so far.

We'll be spending four days bunking over the Thanksgiving holiday with 15-20 relatives, with everyone bringing different meals and then dishes for Thanksgiving dinner.

I've SEEN the sign-up sheet and my stomach fell (yes! all of it!) when I saw the dishes. Pumpkin pie, candied sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, gravy and stuffing...etc. This list of SAD foods goes on. I quickly offered salads and veggies, but am really facing a CHALLENGE of getting by for four days. Since we're still new at this it take HERCULEAN planning to make sure we have all the ETL foods we need so we don't give in.

So I'm accepting The Challenge to hold myself accountable. One holiday meal at a time. :-)

Hoping to release at least 10 lbs in a healthful way before the end of the year. Thanksgiving and Christmas have been mental obstacles for me and I wasn't quite sure how I'd navigate them. Thank you for providing a community where I can make healthy choices over the holidays!

looking forward to reading more about the challenge - I've been eating plant based since watching the doc. Fat Sick and Nearly Dead - thank you to Dr. Furhman, Joe Cross and Phil Staples - for such an inspiring film. over 70,000 have join the reboot on FB. ;o}

I am anxious to see what the holiday challenge is since I am only half way through Dr. Fuhrman's book eat to live and already feel better and have lost another 7 pounds in the last few weeks.

My husband and I have been eating to live for 10 weeks. We have both lost weight and feel energetic and vibrant. We've grown to love the food and want to continue the momentum! Thanks for doing this challenge!

I have ordered a copy of the book, EAT TO LIVE. US friends of mine have spoken highly of Dr. Fuhrman's philosophy of healthy eating, which is how I came to hear of it. Since I live in Europe, it will probably take a little while before I receive the book. I hope to begin the regimen in Jan. 2012. I can see many differences in the European and the US way of things. One difficulty are acronyms. But Dr. Fuhrman's philosphy of greens, greens, greens, seeds, nuts, etc. also helps save our Planet. Greetings to you all on the pathway to a healthier lifestyle.
