Breast Milk Off the Menu!

Oh boy! I’m suddenly feeling a little queasy. A Swiss restaurant was recently BANNED from serving dishes containing HUMAN breast milk. Food inspectors said the ingredient derives from an “unauthorized” source; SwissInfo.ch reports.

Breastfeeding is a GREAT idea, but serving it at a restaurant—GROSS! The eatery planned to use breast milk in antelope steak with sauce and a classic dish called of Zürcher Geschnetzeltes, bite-sized pieces of meat in a creamy sauce. Bleh!

Yes, that's gross. Isn't it funny though that most people don't think it's gross to drink cow breastmilk? Cow breastmilk is way grosser than human breastmilk!

This reminds me, I've heard that breastmilk is used for stomach cancer patients--it's the most mild thing for any stomach, apparently. And a Hmong woman (a nomadic group in Asia) told me when she was deathly ill once, she was fed breastmilk (from exactly who, she didn't know).

But--since I don't drink cow's milk and am not deathly ill, I think I can safely pass without being a hypocrite :)

That description is pretty gross. Where are they getting that breastmilk from anyway? I don't want to imagine. [This is not the same Sara as the previous post]

I'm not sure why people find human breast milk so gross. Are we that grossed out by our own bodies?

You should check out the post I just put up. Lot's of people don't realize that not only do humans drink the milk of other species, they also breast feed the young of other species.

It's amazing that is perfectly socially acceptable to drink breast milk from other animals that is in no way designed for human consumption.

If you are going to drink milk it might as well be human milk.

To be totally incendiary, I was thinking it would be a great work-program for welfare mums ... They could earn money to provide superior milk to others and would then be lactating for their own children rather than resorting to formula instead of being "unable" to produce enough ...

I totally agree with Elijah! It's quite humorous to me that many in our 'modern' society are quit put off by the thought of human milk but find the milk of other SPECIES perfectly acceptable. I too have read medical studies about human milk used for various cancers. As I recall, in the book The China Study author refers to a study he did where cows milk actually 'turned on' a cancer.

How ridiculous to be "grossed out" by HUMAN breastmilk. Drinking cow's milk is better???
