Mary Lynn's Getting Hungry at Pizza Night

A Michigan blogger named Mary Lynn just started Dr. Fuhrman's Eat to Live diet, and she's writing about it in an amusing fashion. For example, here's her tale of pizza night at the church:

I was at church last night for the kids Harvest Party and they had pizza. I was so hungry, but pizza obviously breaks all of the Nazi food rules. There was a lone, shiny, beautiful apple sitting on the kitchen counter. I asked one of the guys, "Whose apple is that?" He said, "I don't know, eat it."

"I'm not going to eat somebody else's apple! That would be kind of like......oh I don't know...stealing??" I replied.

This chivilrous knight picked up the apple, took a big honking bite out of it and handed it to me. "There, now its yours." He says.

My hero. I ate it down to the core.

My church has a pizza night every Wednesday during the fall and winter months. At these dinners are salads that church members bring, and so my wife and I mostly fill up on these salads. Most of the time the salads are very healthy and filled with fruits, vegetables, and dark leafy greens. Sometimes side dishes are brought which can include raw vegetables with dip. Vegetables and dip have always been a favorite of mine. My sister and I will always fight over the vegetables and dip at holiday gatherings. I'll admit that I still do cheat some, but I've cut down on the dip, and as far as pizza, when I do go with a slice, it's vegetable pizza that is loaded with onions, peppers, brocolli, and mushrooms. Maybe you can bring it up to your church that at each pizza night, a different member should bring a salad, this would be a way for you and others to eat healthy. Unsweatened tea is also a choice of drink at my church.

Wish you the best, and Daniel is a good example of excellent eating!
