Do Cruciferous Vegetables Harm the Thyroid?

I don't which end is up anymore. From Doctors Esselstyn, Ornish, Weil , Permutter, there seems to be varying opinion by very intelligent men. All seem to agree on the plant based foods, however,the grain and oil thing seems to differ. I thought I had Angina,but tests have proved otherwise. In light of that, I was on a plant based diet with no nuts or oils, which I adhered to ninety percent. I felt awful, lost too much weight and was depressed. I've resumed consuming olive oil, walnuts, fish oil supplements. I've heard that low cholesterol causes dementia!? My blood sugar seems to be good. How about brown rice or quinoa with vegetables? is this a potential diabetes problem? I have cholesterol at 150 and LDL at 80 will I develop Alzheimers disease.

"However, no human study has demonstrated a deficiency in thyroid function from consuming cruciferous vegetables." That's the bottom line, and honestly even if someone said (and supposedly proved) that vegetables could cause harm to your thyroid, I am sure that all of its benefits would far outweigh any sort of harm that it could cause. It has been proven over and over that veggies are good for you and bring health and even happiness. No studies are going to change that.
