It’s Labor Day, so I'm taking it easy today. Instead of a typical post, I decided to share these photos of my CSA goodies. Here's what I got yesterday:
Oh, and check out this gnarly grasshopper I found on my porch:
He won’t get his claws on my tomato!
Hi Gerry, some good looking stuff there. We don't get green peppers here with that ridged appearance, although home grown tomatoes often do. I have started buying beets at the store (after you posted about them a few months ago) and they are quite good, but they always have very flea-bitten looking leaves, yours look great. I used to hate beets (my dear Mom would boil them to death, then a little extra just to be sure), but now a raw beet, a couple of raw carrots and a grater makes a nice tasty slaw.
I was at the csa farm today, Got loads of tomatoes and some nice eggplants but the peppers were smaller and yellow or purple. My beet greens are more redish and are in the pot with the edamames and herbs I picked and tomato and zuchini from before. We also picke d lots of okra, green beans, edamamames, blackberries, various herbs, flowers and some tomatilos that I don.t know what to do with. You should have come to the pick-your -own field today. There were tons of people at the farm today. I don't think I have a sunburn pre ETL I would have looked like a lobster after ! 1/2 hr in the field.
Tomatillos make yummy salsa!
