On Manager's Special 4.6.09
A bunch of apples and a pear only $1.00.
Really tasty black grapes $0.60.
And my favorite, broccoli for $0.99.
Final total, just $2.59. Pretty hard to argue with that!
I eat a ton of broccoli every week. The black grapes are really awesome. I've had them before, very sweet and no seeds. And apples are always great to have on hand, same with pears.

That really is such a great example of how it doesn't have to cost a fortune to be healthy. All those nutrients for such a low price... I just wish those specials didn't always involve so much styrofoam and plastic.
I just recently came back to ETL after a few years of trying out Ayurveda and some high protein diets. I know I know. I feel better than ever now that I'm back with ETL. I wish we never broke-up. Hee!
I just want to tell you I appreciate your "Manager's Special" part of the blog. It has inspired me to check out my local mart which has bargains in the back of the store. I live in Chicago and frequent a store called Harvest Time. I just got some sale kale (I rhyme) and bananas for a green smoothie which I then added a bit of hemp protein and frozen spinach. It was delish.
The amount of packaging used for fruit and vegetables is disgraceful. Our environment can't cope with it. Going to farmers markets and buying fresh as possible is so important. I don't think we ask enough where our food comes from, how many miles it took to get to get to the supermarket and why the HELL we need to cover it in plastic!
