On Manager's Special 4.27.09
My favorite, super ripe bananas $0.63.
Two awesome cauliflowers only $0.75.
A few bunches of Romaine lettuce $1.00.
Finally tally, just $2.38. Pretty freaking great if you ask me!
I chew through bananas like a rabib monkey, not sure what I'll do with the cauliflowers yet, but the Romaine lettuce is perfect for salads. Sweet.

Some very good deals there, especially the two cauliflowers which look pretty good. One at that price would be a good deal. Looks like you will be eating plenty of cauliflower over the next few days.
Mmm ... cauliflower soup. Steam cauliflower in few inches of veggie broth until tender, then puree with an immersion blender (or in an actual blender). You can add all sorts of spices to tailor the soup to your mood - curry is a favorite of mine. Make it creamy with some almond or soy milk, or add some diced veggies. Very easy, versatile, and yummy.
Yeah those immersion (hand held) blenders are a fab kitchen gizmo. I never bother with stock anymore, just puree a bit (or all) of the veggies in the same pot. Sometimes the soup is so thick I have to dilute it the next day or it won't reheat easily.
Cheers, Steve
These Manager Specials are great! Do you like grilled romaine, Gerry? I've never tried it but I've heard it's good.

Cauliflower curry?
the cauliflower, spinach mashed "potatoes" recipe in the Eat for Health recipe book is heavenly! I ended up eating half a cauliflower last night.
