On Manager's Special 4.20.09

Great looking organic zucchinis only $1.00.

Six anjou pears for $1.25.

And a bunch of ripe tomatoes just $1.25.

Grand total, a measly $3.50. Not a bad haul if you ask me.

I needed tomatoes, so I was excited to see them. I don't really like anjou pears, but my mom loves them, so she can have them. As for the zucchinis, they'll go in the steamer.

I love the manager's special but as I've said before... I wish they didn't use all that plastic and styrofoam. Can't they just put out a bin of the beaten and bruised produce?

Meghan- They do not put out bins of bruised produce in supermarkets. So we have to take it as it comes or pay double and then it may or may not be wrapped. We are just glad they don't throw it out.

Hi Gerry,

Like you I always look out for the so called 'discounted items' consequently I pick up numerous specials that most people aren't aware of. Yesterday I picked up a 9kg box (about 20 lbs) of bananas for 3 dollars! They just don't look as good but are perfected fine. This will keep me supplied for weeks and since it's a little cooler now and they will store well.

Cheers,

Peter

Where in the heck do you find such inexpensive organic produce? I have never seen such low prices in my area (Seattle), and certainly not at the natural foods store I work at.
