A bunch of onions $1.25.
Slightly banged up bananas $0.42.
And 6 pomegranates for only $3.00!
Grand total, just $4.67.
Those onions will last me a month, bananas are always cool and pomegrantes. Awesome!

Hey there! When I first saw these pics I thought "Who would want to buy rotten vegetables?" Then on the day just before Thanksgiving, when the relatives were coming and I needed to get my menu items, I decided to pick some up. i saw a huge wheely cart full of discounted produce. I got three huge white onions and eight tomatoes $1.40 and $2.25, and we made salsa. Still have one huge onion left. I got two lovely, large eggplants for $1.80, and we made eggplant croquettes out of this. I got three peppers for around $2.50, one of each color, and we used them in our salads. None of this food was spoiled or rotten. I will definitely look again in this so called reject area on each shopping trip. Thanks for the pictures and the money saving tip.
I've had great luck at my local Meijer outside Chicago finding organic produce marked down -- sometimes way down. Just this past Tuesday I found 2 heads of organic lettuce for $1 (normally $3 each) and organic broccoli for 50 cents per pound. I especially like finding marked down bananas, just like the ones you show in your photo. I freeze them and they are great to use in my green smoothies. The riper, the better!
