Pudding...for Breakfast?
I'm a creature of habit. This is what I eat for breakfast most mornings. Make it yourself and let me know what you think:
Gerry’s Chocolate Pudding
1 ripe bananas
1 teaspoon chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon raw sunflower seeds
1 teaspoon raw sesame seeds
1 teaspoon ground flaxseed
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
1 1/2 cup frozen spinach
3 dates
1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk or unsweetened soy milk
4 heaping teaspoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 ripe avocado
Blend until smooth.

Well, I do love sugar and chocolate......but I really don't care at all for the consistency or taste of SAD chocolate pudding......so I would pass on this healthier version, too. I would probably add water and make it a smoothie. It has too many calories for me, too - as a very short female - I think I'd gain weight.
I'm looking forward to see if anyone (pudding lover) gives it a try and reports back.
It would be interesting to see what everyone eats for breakfast.
I think the pudding sounds delicious but way too rich for me everyday. I have a bowl of cut fruit brought to work with me weekdays or asmoothie when it's not a workday. Spinach fruit, flax, berries,a banana and a little pom juice -this is for two people.
I tried a variation (as I did not have the yeast or sesame seeds) of this recipe at lunch today . It came out a little too green, as I guessed at, rather than measured the greens.
Overall a good recipe and a great idea if one becomes tired of the usual green smoothie.
As to calorie content, what ETLer counts calories?
Would like to see overall ANDI rating for this recipe, and any other recipe, posted.
Thanks for sharing!
Brian- We may not count them per se but calories do matter, especially for people who are trying to lose weight or who gain easily. SOME of us can gain weight eating healthy food make no mistake about it.
I just made a lighter version of this and it was very very yummy. I used one and a half frozen bananas, the 4 leaves of romaine, a little stevia (I know, not really allowed...) and the cocoa. I blended the greens with a little water first, so that they were perfectly blended, then used that as the liquid to get the bananas to blend. It came out somewhere between a cold pudding and a melty ice cream. Yum!
Man that actually looks and sounds good! I may just have to give that a try!!
That pudding is too high in fat for me. My favorite banana pudding is simply mashed bananas with some cinnamon, and maybe some dates and diced cucumber.
Apologies for reviving and old thread!
